Interview with Melanie Fisher, Operations Manager,

Princes Linen S.A

Q: How long has the laundry been in business?

Melanie Fisher: With a legacy spanning more than 120 years, The Princes Group has established itself as a trusted name in the industry. Adelaide became its seventh location, with Princes Linen S.A. commencing operations in August 2016. This year proudly marks a decade of service in South Australia.

Q: What sort of work do you do?

Melanie Fisher: We provide linen services across accommodation, healthcare, mining and food and beverage sectors and offer customised dedicated solutions that help our high-end hotel clients maintain the quality their guests expect.

Q: What drives your team each day?

Melanie Fisher: Our team is driven by a supportive and empowering workplace, where a happy and positive atmosphere fosters enjoyment in the work we do. By nurturing the skills and confidence of our staff, we help them grow both professionally and personally, enabling them to deliver their best every day and ensuring our customers experience exceptional service

Q: What does the next year - five years look like for the laundry?

Melanie Fisher: In the year ahead and over the next five years, we look forward to seeing the full impact of our investments in new machinery, which will enhance efficiency and elevate the quality of our service. We remain committed to innovation across software, hardware and equipment, approaching challenges with practical solutions that continuously strengthen our operations and ensure we deliver the best possible experience for our clients.

Over the next 5 years we aim to automate to a much higher level and we are planning the 100% ‘greening’ of our operations.

Q: How long have you been a member of the LAA?

Melanie Fisher: The Princes Group has been involved with the LAA for many years. Personally, I’ve been part of it for around four years and have found it to be an invaluable resource. It provides support within our industry, helps us stay connected and keeps us up to date with the latest news and developments.

Q: Have you been to the Conference or participated in any webinars?

Melanie Fisher: I attended the LAA conference in Queensland in 2024 and absolutely loved it! I’m really looking forward to this year’s event in Sydney. The conferences are full of insights into new technologies and innovations, and they offer the rare chance to connect with other laundry professionals. The site tours are a highlight. Seeing how other laundries operate and sharing experiences is both inspiring and motivating. Plus, it’s a fantastic opportunity to meet industry partners and suppliers and hear about their exciting projects firsthand.

Q: What would you like from the LAA in the next 12 months

Melanie Fisher: Over the next 12 months, I’m looking forward to continuing to see the valuable information the LAA shares through emails, webinars, and conferences. They already put a tremendous amount of work into keeping us informed and connected, and it’s great to see that commitment maintained as the industry continues to evolve.
